Ray flowers 13-21, narrow, drooping. Disc purplish, conic. Pollen yellow, per Wildflowers of Tennessee, the Ohio Valley, and the Southern Appalachians (Horn, Cathcart, Hemmerly, & Duhl, 2005).

Work is needed to disentangle the relative distributions of E. pallida & simulata in our area, per Weakley's Flora (2022).
